Northern Avenue Bridge – Ideas Competition

This proposal gives space to the imagination and considers how play might disrupt and juxtapose layers of public life in order to facilitate social interaction. Since the competition served as an invitation to propose ideas about “the future of the Northern Avenue Bridge,” Joshua and I took the bold step of not simply demolishing the structure, unlike an unusually large percentage of our competitors. The jury found this to be “kind-of the extreme in terms of program, we called it the Coney Island scheme” and then awarded a proposal to eliminate the whole bridge…
