“Photography for Architects” Seminar – Fall 2005
Self Portrait was approached as an opportunity to represent the aspect of masking that is human nature. Simple, crude constructs were made to frame both a printed representation of a face and a real face. The overlap represents the condition of exterior versus internal being. The constructs represent frames – or, perhaps, cages – that modulate – or, perhaps, enforce – this split condition.
