SELF PORTRAIT

Yale University School of Architecture

“Photography for Architects” Seminar –  Fall 2005

Self Portrait was approached as an opportunity to represent the aspect of masking that is human nature. Simple, crude constructs were made to frame both a printed representation of a face and a real face. The overlap represents the condition of exterior versus internal being. The constructs represent frames – or, perhaps, cages –  that modulate – or, perhaps, enforce – this split condition.
